JACK FM is an iconic national radio brand known for its unconventional Playing What We Want format that eschews traditional DJs in favor of a more eclectic and humorous approach. Our brand is synonymous with innovative content, engaging humor, and a deep connection with our audience. We are looking for talented writers to join our creative team and contribute to the ongoing success and distinctive flavor of JACK FM.
POSITION OVERVIEW
As a JACK FM Writer, you will be responsible for crafting engaging, witty, and original content that resonates with our brand diamond and personality. Your work will include writing humorous liners and scripts, web copy, eblasts, social media posts, and promotional material that aligns with and enhances our brand's personality.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and write comedic content, including topical liners and other JACK scripted categories;
- Collaborate with the creative and production teams to ensure content aligns with JACK FM's brand and audience expectations;
- Incorporate topicality, pop culture, and political satire into JACK content in alignment with our brand persona and Character Diamond;
- Participate with the team to generate new ideas and concepts for on-air content;
- Work closely with other writers and editors to refine content and adapt to feedback;
- Stay current with topics and trends that fit the JACK Brand to keep it relevant and energizing.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be familiar with the JACK FM brand and radio format;
- Proven experience as a writer with a solid portfolio;
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and solo in a fast-paced, creative team environment;
- Flexibility to adapt writing style to fit the brand voice and audience of JACK FM;
- Understanding JACK FMs production processes and the ability to work within tight deadlines;
- A keen understanding of current events, pop culture, and trends;
- Experience in social media, radio, and comedy writing is a plus.
EDUCATION
- A degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field is optional but optional.
